Blind Installers in Cape Town: What a Fitter Actually Does
A blind installer measures each window, has the blind manufactured to that exact size, then mounts the brackets, hangs the blind, sets the tension and tests the mechanism before leaving. The measuring is the part that decides whether a blind fits, which is why Capetown Blinds does it on site and free rather than working from numbers sent over the phone. Most installations across the greater Cape Town area take under an hour per window once the blinds are manufactured.

Blind Installers Options We Supply
Measuring and Quoting
The fitter measures the width and drop of every window in three places, checks whether the recess is square and deep enough for an inside mount, and records the substrate behind each fixing point. That produces an itemised quote with no allowance guesswork.
Fitting to Brick, Drywall and Aluminium
Each substrate needs a different fixing. Brick and plaster take a plug and screw, drywall needs a toggle or a fixing into the stud behind it, and aluminium window frames are drilled and screwed directly. A blind that pulls out of the wall is almost always a substrate that was never checked.
Inside, Outside and Ceiling Mounts
An inside mount sits in the recess for a built-in look, an outside mount overlaps the opening to kill light gaps, and a ceiling fix carries the blind where the reveal is too shallow to hold it. The fitter decides this at the measure, not on the day of installation.
Cutting Down an Existing Blind
A blind that is too wide can often be cut down and re-slatted rather than replaced, provided the headrail and mechanism are sound. Capetown Blinds assesses whether cutting down is worth it against the cost of a new made-to-measure blind.
Re-Hanging After Painting or Renovation
Blinds taken down for painting, ceiling work or new flooring are re-hung, re-tensioned and tested. Brackets that were removed with the wall plugs are re-fixed properly rather than pushed back.
Supply-Only for DIY Fitting
Blinds can be supplied cut to your own measurements for you to fit yourself, with brackets, fixings and instructions included. The measurements are then your responsibility, so we confirm them in writing before manufacturing.

Blind Installers — Frequently Asked Questions
Who installs blinds in Cape Town?
Capetown Blinds measures, manufactures and installs blinds across the greater Cape Town area with its own fitters, so the person who measures the window is accountable for the blind that goes up. The in-home measure and quote is free and carries no obligation.
How much does it cost to install blinds?
Installation is included in the supplied-and-fitted price, so there is no separate installation charge on a Capetown Blinds order. Fitting blinds bought elsewhere, cutting down an existing blind or re-hanging after renovation is quoted per job after the fitter has seen the windows.
Can you fit blinds I bought somewhere else?
Yes, subject to the blind being the right size for the opening and the hardware being complete. The fitter checks the brackets, the mechanism and the substrate first, because a blind cut for a different window usually cannot be made to fit safely.
How long does blind installation take?
Most windows take under an hour once the blind has been manufactured. A full house of eight to twelve windows is normally completed in a single visit.
Can blinds be fitted to drywall?
Yes. Drywall needs a toggle fixing or a screw into the stud behind the board rather than a standard wall plug. Fixing a blind into unsupported drywall is the most common reason a blind pulls out of the wall later.
Do you cut down existing blinds?
Yes, where the headrail and mechanism are sound. Roller and Venetian blinds can usually be narrowed and re-slatted. Capetown Blinds will say when cutting down costs more than a new made-to-measure blind rather than doing the work regardless.
